I recently purchased this model as a replacement for our 25 year-old Whirlpool model. It is installed under-counter and slid right into the old hole with no problem. I recommend the filter - we started without one and the ice had a noticeable chlorine odor that went away when I installed the plug-in filter. Ease of filter replacement is a great feature.

This unit stopped making ice and getting service is a pain. The Kitchenaid service site is worthless . Would not buy again. Now have to buy ice at the market. What's the point of this product?

Replaced old Kitchen ice machine. Disappointed that we couldn't use the front panels to match our cabinets. The area to scoop ice is not as big as the old one. It has a better ice scoop holder. Nice water filter. Easy for DIY to install. one of only a few that are 18" wide. Just take care to get gravity drain to slope down to the drain. Old one had a ice cube size setting not on the new one.

We've had a KitchenAid Ice Machine for almost 20 years and when it was no longer repairable, we ordered a new machine. The new machine seems quieter and makes more ice per day than the older model. We really missed having the convenience of virtually unlimited ice.

Cabinet is sound proofed on the sides making unit ultra quiet. All you can hear is ice dropping. Overnight made almost full bin of ice.

This is a replacement for a KitchenAid that I've had for years and thought it would be a simple installation. Found an unknown fitting on the supply inlet ( see photo). I visited Home Depot who sold me the ice maker. They had no one who knew, visited Lowes and they didn't know either. I finally did and extensive web search and found it was PEX piping connector. Only then was I comfortable removing it and the tubing piece in the female screw fitting. Wasted about two hours.

Worst Icemaker ever!

This is the second KitchenAid ice maker I have purchased. The first one had a few problems and eventually wore out. The second one has been nothing but problems and is less than 3 years old. After spending $2000 + and getting an extended warranty from Lowe's where purchased (thank goodness) I have had 2 major breakdowns. The first took over 2 months to repair with 4 technician visits....replace one part, still doesn't work, then replace another, etc. The second repair is still occurring but not fixed with the ice maker not working for 2+ months and counting. Four technician (Via Appliance Services) visits and supposedly replaced every part internally dropped ice once...technician left and no more ice. This should be declared a lemon, but the law says 3+ service calls each 30 days apart. I've never been so frustrated with such an unreliable appliance. WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!
