Bought few months ago and quit working
Tots

Bought KCDS100T2 Feb 2019. Ran into the low drain issues and had to customize the drainage. Yesterday it quit working. Used the Allen wrench ( came with it) and tried to rotate the grinding plate but in vain. Reached out to customer service , can't get a technician for a week to to loot at it. It's very expensive compared to other companies but paid the price anticipating and expecting not to run into such issues due to the reliability and reputation of kitchen Aide. Per customer service can't take it in to a authorized service provided. Now I am out of a sink for a week.

Installed this myself recently. If you're even slightly mechanically inclined, it's an easy install. It's our first waste disposer, so I have nothing to compare it to. However, it's very quiet and powerful. So far it's handled all I've thrown into it - fruit (including whole plums with the pits, meat, rice, pasta, bananas, celery. I'm sure it will handle bones fine as well.
I like the fact that's it's a batch feed vs a continuous feed. This is the only batch feed I found that was 1 HP. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Insinkerator makes these for KitchenAid, and this unit appears to have all the high end components that the Insinkerator Excel has, but it's batch feed vs Insinkerator continuous feed.

My new Batch Feed Waste Disposer
5/21/2017
I replaced a Kitchen Aid Batch Feed Food Disposer with this unit after 13 years of use. The reson why I choose Kitch Aid was my satisfaction with with my old unit. I have the new unit for nearly a month. Therefore, it is too early to coment on the performance.

Improved switch design
11/17/2016
This unit replaced two similar KitchenAid waste disposals both failed with the same problem. The new units were both installed under KitchenAid warranty. The previous units used a magnetic switch but the new unit has a more positive (mechanical, I believe?) switch. It's too early to see if it is more durable, but keeping fingers crossed.

Best Ever!
5/27/2016
This is the 5th or 6th waste disposal unit we have had, 10th home. First, we have had units of differing power we knew from experience one wants a 1 horse unit. Having said that, the Kitchenaid unit is by far the best we have ever had. I love the magnetic switch/stopper and the grinding power is superb!

Garbage & Water Won't Drain
3/3/2016
WARNING: Kitchen Aid recently changed the design of this disposer. Online documentation shows 6-11/16" from bottom of sink to centerline of water discharge but the new design is 9-1/4". The new disposers have 3" long black plastic extension between the disposer and mounting ring. If your plumbing drain is not low enough (like mine) some of the garbage and water will sit inside the disposer and not drain. Even worse, Kitchen Aid support does not yet have any info about this. Can't use kitchen sink or dishwasher now! This could be the same issue across the entire product line. See attached picture showing the 3" extension

Runs quietly, instructions not complete
9/15/2015
Install had a glitch in that the rubber safety collar was not referenced in the instructions. Apparently it is to be just laid in the drain to prevent things accidently falling in. Very quiet in operation, impressed my daughter who has a noisy insinkerator

Self installed batch feed disposal
7/22/2015
The disposer came with everything necessary to install in its package. Although the model I was replacing was the same make it wasn't the same size. Some creative plumbing attachments made it possible to hook up using the old piping. The old disposal was just a little larger therefore I used a flex fit attachment to hook it up. All in all the only real difficulty was elevating it under the sink enough to start the connection.

First off let me say the unit is very quite and has good power. The rest all I can say is poor execution. I am left disappointed in the magnetic start. It is tough to make in-gauge sometime don't work at all and the stopper don't plug water. So if you wish to fill the sink with water you are going to have to find a stopper that will work. The stopper they do have is made of plastic. Yes PLASTIC... Why would they take one of there premium models($400 range) and cheap out on the stopper. my old one was a different brand 3/4 hp cost 20% of what this one did but came with a chrome stopper and it actually stopped water. The good news is I was able to get a chrome off-brand stopper that fits well at my local parts store for like $10 retail. If I want to use the disposer I will have to use the plastic one that trips the magnetic switch and use the new one when I wish to plug the sink. All said the unit is subject to a ongoing issue Kitchen Aid has. Premium pricing and cheapening product. I understand the need to stay competitive in pricing but a $400 disposer is high up the line and should have the quality trim level to go with it. It's like buying a BMW 7 series with hubcaps. At this price point nobody is concerned if the price needed to be a few dollars higher as long as the product had the correct fit and finish.

I just installed this and realized there is s little space in the chamber. Half of what my last kitchen aid had. Then there is a rubber shield like a continuous feed would have that now you have to push food down with your hand or something. Then there's the plastic stopper that you need to flip over to plug the sink, which doesn't work. I can her the still draining. Kitchen aid failed on this one. I really wish I could return this, so unhappy. Want my old one back. Was going to buy a kitchen aid dishwasher this weekend, won't be now.

Worst disposal I've ever used. Not at all quiet. Does not grind bones as I would told it would. Shallow depth flings food that sticks to the underside of the baffle so it has to be cleaned after each use to avoid bacteria growth. Uses a lot of water to completely empty disposal otherwise food just flies around and stays. I've used cheaper, smaller hp disposals that worked better than this one.

Had one installed in my previous home to replace the 20yr old disposer that finally gave up.. What a difference the new features made. Much quieter, grinds faster, and the jam sensor. The magnetic start is a great safety feature especially with children. So impressed with it that I just had one installed in my new home.

This disposer works quickly and quietly and is very powerful. However, the "plug" piece that starts the feed in the sink is made entirely of plastic. It does not fit snugly into the opening and has to be twisted a number of times in order to start the disposer. Our last KitchenAid disposer had a metal, not plastic sink plug.

We purchased early February, as our previous KA model would not "turn on and sometimes would not stop" working. This "new" model does not have the same capacity to accept garbage (have to stuff it down by hand) and the "stopper" will not allow any residue garbage to enter unit while running. The holes are too small. This stopper is made of plastic, while our previous was metal. We are sorry KA discontinued make our previous model, as it was a 100 times more effective in doing the job. Very disappointed in this "new" model.

We were doing some remodeling of our kitchen and decided to replace a 19 year old disposer, which was in perfect working order and served us well without any repairs for all those years..the newer is somewhat smaller than my original, takes less room under my sink but works equally as well. It isextremely quiet, and very easy to turn on .It is much easier to turn on than the previous model. We really love using it..Hope it gives us as many trouble free years as our old disposer.
